As a person of color, an individual living with a disability and a father raising a special needs child this topic is always in the forefront of my mind. DASA Sports

The Disabled Athlete Sports Association has been empowering individuals with disabilities since 1997 through adaptive sports and fitness. With both recreational and competitive program options there is something for every level of ability to bring out the inner athlete in you. Archery, powerlifting, swimming and sled hockey oh my! So many options but what’s even more impressive is that out of every dollar donated to this nonprofit towards their mission $0.87 cent of that dollar directly helps the athletes.

Paraquad

Paraquad champions equity and independence for people with disabilities through services, partnerships, education and advocacy. For over 50 years, Paraquad has been working to promote inclusion for people with disabilities in St. Louis and around the world. Starting with its founder Max Starkloff, his vision still lives on within the organization today empowering individuals with disabilities to increase their independence through choice and opportunity.

Starkloff Disability Institute

SDI is the workforce, workplace disability advisor. This non-profit organization is dedicated to helping people with disabilities participate fully and equally in all aspects of society. Founded in 2003 by Max & Colleen Starkloff and David Newburger, SDI works on changing societal attitudes and perceptions about people with disabilities. I've personally worked with this great organization on a number of projects and I can safely say that when it comes to fighting for peoples with disabilities in the workforce this place means business...
